The big 40 is fast approaching. I'm not concerned except for the moving up a level in age groups for question-airs. It's just a number, it only has meaning if you fixate on it and make it the centre of your life. Remember when you thought 20 was old, then 30, then 40! You're only as old as you make yourself, sure you wear out but you can become an old fuddy duddy and that's a sad way to look at life! On the positive side I received a super camera from my wonderful hubby, that at the moment scares the be-Jesus out of me, but I so can't wait to experiment with and learn to make some wonderful memories with. I go shopping and get so pissy which makes me sad with myself that I let it get to me. The people around me that push, shove and just have bad attitude, seriously no-one likes food shopping, but take a pill and relax.

It's boxing day and another Christmas is done, and thank goodness for that. The lead up to Christmas is so stressful and so unnecessary. The thought of all the drama just kills the spirit of the whole thing. My family are un-organised and ALWAYS LATE, but the get together is always easy and fun. The in-laws are always secretive, un-organised, extreamely stressful and full of unnecessary surprises designed to keep you looking like a fool. We have timed it so both the worst and best relatives don't see us on the year we make it and the year they don't. I so miss my wonderful in-laws from interstate that we don't get to see, but not seeing others on that day is such a blessing. The uncle & aunts and cousins are so much fun to catch up with, it is sometimes worth all the stress leading up to the actual day.

It's holiday time!
It's school holidays, and it always starts so well with everyone sleeping in and just enjoying the freedom of not having to rush to school, rush to pick them up from school and then not having the homework screaming matches. By the end of the hols the kids are niggling at each other and need some stimulation from friends and some school work to get the brain going. Try to find the cheap things that the majority enjoy along with just re-charging the batteries. The dog loves having everyone home playing with him. It has worked so well for me having hubby become a teacher and now that I've changed jobs and don't have the huge freedom with work any more. Love catching up with the mums and kids for holiday fun at the bike track or the local park.

Just stuff
My boss and friend told me the other day that they were more than likely going to sell the business. I'm very sad, it's not the money, most weeks I only earn less than $50 but it's been just over 10 years since I started there. It's my second home I'm always welcome there and I can raid the fridge. I never know who I'll find there or what things I'll do. I've known the family for 30 years. I've never left a job and felt so sad about it. At least I've taught most of you about what is a heavy load, I think most of you can recite my spiel about what's going in the bin. It's funny about what you take for granted until it's threatened.
I love you all, don't take life for granted.

kids
I'm in the shower this morning and my 9 year old comes in to tell me Nanna Day (my mum) rang and I need to ring Aunty Brenda (who is on holidays). So My Family don't do the you need to ring another member of the family thing so I'm thinking Oh God what's wrong. I ring my sister - no answer, ring her hubby - no answer, ring my sister again and wake her up, she has no idea what I'm talking about. So I ring my mum and wake her up, no she didn't ring. And then it dawned on me, my sister and boss share the same name. Yes my boss rang not the two people I woke up. Bloody Children.
Yes 3 weeks into school and we are already one lunch box down!

Happy New Year.
Happy New Year! Had a super great start to the new year at Dan's, drank way too much, swam, ate great food, had a wonderful time with friends. This is going to be a great year, full of challenges, rewards and new personal bests. The best is yet to come, strap yourself in and enjoy the ride. Sam may just make it to start school, the bets are still open. Saw Avatar today - what a great/wonderful movie. Thanks Helene for watching my kids so Jon and I could go see it. BMX has kept us real busy and I'll be happy when it's over and we can get into some sort of routine ready for school.
